I think my eating habits are similar to my dressing habits. Although I'm very willing to take risks when assembling outfits, my default mode is to rely on the familiar. Take this gingham shirt and v-neck sweater. I almost always wear them together. And I almost always style them with red (see here for proof). I know that both items fit well and that they work well with a variety of bottoms. And I know that they allow me to look work-appropriate without looking the least bit stuffy. Sometimes you just have to go with what you know, right? (And I would be remiss if I neglected to credit Lisa's post with the inspiration to combine black and white with this particular shade of tomato red. Thanks, Lisa!)

ReplyDeleteLove the skirt, and it goes so well with your enamel bracelets!
ReplyDeleteThis might be familiar, but it's beautiful! :)

ReplyDeleteI have no idea why I just posted 6 times! Sorry about that!! :)
ReplyDeleteI love this entire look...so chic! As much as I love to experiment with different styles/looks, there's something to be said about the familiar. It's nice to be able to gravitate to those classic and familiar pieces!!!

ReplyDeleteI think you look so classy here!! I can see why you like to pair the shirt with the red skirt. It works perfectly like they were made for each other!! I'm happy to hear that you had a nice day off with your bf!!
ReplyDeleteI bought this skirt as a splurge as well (birthday present) and I think I used the same promo as you. I was thinking recently how I would like to wear this skirt and I had a similar look in mind (but unfortunately I do not have a black gingham shirt!). I love the colors here, and there is nothing wrong with relying on the tried and true! Have a great rest of the week!
ReplyDeleteI love the black and red together. And there's nothing wrong with going back to classics when they look as good as this!
ReplyDeleteAnd btw, love the glasses!
I love the outfit and your ring is super cute:) I am a fan of trying new restaurants, but sometimes it's just nice to go somewhere you already know and love.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Aimee! This ring is definitely a standout piece, but I wear it every chance I get.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jess! As a rule, I used to avoid gold-tone jewelry, but these bangles are so versatile that I gladly make an exception.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment, Viktoria! And absolutely no worries on the multiple posts -- there must have been something funky happening today with Disqus.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kelly! I did feel very chic in this outfit. I think it was the combination of all the bold colors together.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sayaka. This outfit was such a breeze to put together. Like you said, the items just seem to go together.
ReplyDeleteWasn't that J. Crew deal a great promo? I'm so glad to hear you have this skirt as well, and I'm looking forward to seeing how you style it. I received mine in January (it was backordered), but I've already worn it twice! So I think the splurge will end up paying off.
ReplyDeleteYou're so sweet, Pamela! And thanks for your comment on my glasses. I've started to wear glasses more frequently now that I have my new frames (my old ones were from 2006, I think!)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kristin! I love the ring, but usually can't wear it for more than a few hours at a time. That sucker is surprisingly heavy! (My boss once joked that it would help me to defend myself against any nefarious types, should I wind up in a fist fight).
ReplyDeleteThis is a great look as well as color combination! And I just adore you in glasses....
