If you're a regular reader of this blog, you may notice that I'm donning a new pair of spectacles. I usually wear contact lenses for the sake of convenience, but truth be told, I actually prefer the look of glasses. When I was in third grade I wanted glasses in the worst way. I can distinctly remember admiring the glasses of a fellow third grade student. She had these amazing teal and purple plastic frames that were just so cool. I was so, so envious and concluded that that I would be eternally happy, if only I could have a pair of glasses as cool as hers. So I wished, and wished, and wished for glasses.
In fourth grade, it became clear that I actually needed to have my vision corrected. So I picked out a pair of frames...and quickly concluded that wearing glasses wasn't as fun as I had imagined. When I went to the optometrist in fifth grade for my annual eye exam, I learned that my vision had become four times (four times?!!!) worse over a twelve month time period. Be careful what you wish for, right?

Jamie, I love how every element of this outfit works so well together! That tank is just perfect for under that jacket....Love!
ReplyDeleteI hate wearing my glasses although in the privacy of my own home, I wear them 24/7!
That tank is very cool! Great outfit. I don't wear glasses myself, but every female in the family over 40 seems to get them then, so in a bit I think I will be joining the club.
ReplyDeleteI love the look of glasses, too, but I am thankful for my good vision! All of my family wears glasses.... and I assume my time is coming! I also looove that top you are wearing! It's gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteYou look great in glasses! I've worn glasses since 5th grade, although I definitely prefer my contact lenses. For some reason I feel perpetually tired whenever I wear my glasses. It probably doesn't help that I've had the same pair for a good 8 years or so. Maybe it's time for an update :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kelly! I really like these frames but it took me about 1.5 hours to find a pair that seemed to work with my face. I think the staff at the optometrist's office were starting to get sick of my request to try on different pairs.
ReplyDeleteAnd it's so funny that glasses make you feel tired -- for me, they seem to be easier on my eyes for the days that I know I'll be doing lots of detail work (ie, reading, computing, etc).
My family members all have perfect vision. I'm the black sheep and seem to have ended up with the "bad" vision genes. So perhaps you'll be lucky and your good vision will continue.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment on this tank, Jess! It has been a really versatile purchase. The silk fabric is so pretty and has a slight sheen to it. It also came in a beige/ivory colorway and I'm kicking myself for not buying that version when I had the chance.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Eleanor! I was very excited for the EBEW black and white challenge. Many of my favorite items are black and white, so it was great to have the opportunity to put them together in an outfit.
ReplyDeleteThere's that gorgeous lace skirt again!
ReplyDeleteI used to need glasses but never got into wearing them for fashion - I never looked good in anything but thin wire-rimmed ones, and the weight always gave me a headache afterwards!
Im loving your black and white mix......and those shoes? I need em:)
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!!!
Inspiration for You, Your Home, & Everywhere in Between!
Jaime!!! I love your glasses! What's so funny though, is how similar your glasses story is to mine except i was jealous of my sister. My glasses were wire frames with a tortoise shell pattern. Ohmygoodness. They were HIDEOUS! Like you, I went through a phase where I completely despised the thought of wearing glasses, but I've since overcome that. Lucky for us, there are some really cool frames out there compared to 1993!
ReplyDeleteLove that jacket and shoes. You look beautiful in glasses too. No need to be envious, for you, yourself looks so cool and chic.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
