Ho-Ho-Holiday Home Décor

Hi, friends!  I always enjoy seeing how others decorate for the holidays, so I thought I would share a few quick pictures of my apartment.

Small Woodlands Reindeer from Coldwater Creek

Since I'm still in the process of settling into my new place (I know, I know, it's been three full months already...), it seemed silly to purchase a real tree this year.  Instead, I opted to take the easy route and find an ornament tree.  Simple task, right?

I thought I could simply stroll into the nearest Target and buy an ornament tree.  Easier said than done.   It's surprisingly difficult to find an attractive, well-priced ornament tree at this time of year.  I was hoping to avoid ordering online and paying shipping fees.  Eventually, I found this decorative thing at Marshall's, and decided it could serve as an ornament tree.  But I am a bit perplexed as to its intended purpose.  Given that a rooster adorns the top of this contraption, I am not convinced that it was designed to be a holiday item.  Your thoughts?  What is this item?  My best guess is that the hooks are intended to hold coffee mugs/tea cups...but given that this item measures over 3 feet tall, it could become visually overwhelming when placed atop a counter.

Don't remember the portion of the Christmas story when the angel descends upon a rooster? That makes two of us.

 Thanks for reading!

PS. In case anyone is still looking for holiday items, I would highly recommend checking out Coldwater Creek.  I am especially fond of their "Woodlands" collection, as well as their "Holly Bird" tableware

Wonderful holiday decor. Even the rooster tree! Maybe you'll be able to find another use for it after the holidays too.

I never thought to look at Coldwater Creek for decor, but I'll definitely have to check it out. I've been noticing a few cute clothing items in their window lately too!!!

  4. It looks like a rack for very, very small hats and shoes. Hats and shoes made for a rooster, perhaps? Beats me but you did a fantastic job making it into an ornament tree!

If it makes you feel any better, I feel like I have finally settled into my apartment and I've been here since May! It takes time to adjust to new places :)

That DOES make me feel better. Thanks, Viktoria! I know I *need* to finish setting everything up, but it's tough to find the time, especially at this time of year!

Thanks, Tara! I had seen a similar mitten garland in the Garnet Hill catalog for almost $100. I found this one on Etsy for $10! Much more my speed!

Thanks, Kelly! And do check out Coldwater Creek. They also have some fun jewelry! I pop in there occasionally b/c my mom likes the store, but every once in a while there is something that catches my eye as well.

Thanks so much, Eleanor. Isn't it a treat to come home to a decorated house during these holiday months? And I am so pleased with those mittens -- they were an Etsy purchase from seller Pinkycreations. Love them! http://www.etsy.com/shop/pinkycreations
