Based on the other mailbox contents, it also seems likely that this person was a real "man's man." Witness the following items received:
- Cabela's holiday catalog
- NRA renewal membership notice
- Hot Rod magazine
- Truckin' magazine
- Off Road magazine
Since I'm not a particularly outdoorsy person, I hastily concluded that Michael W. and I have very little in common. While he's a member of the NRA, the only gun I've ever used is a glue gun. While I do like to embark on very long walks, I prefer well-lit sidewalks to dirt trails and running shoes to hiking boots. And I'd really, really love for there to be a Starbucks at the end of said long walk.
But then it dawned on me that Michael W. and I might in fact have something in common. My first car, after all, was a red Ford Ranger pickup. I loved driving that truck. It was tough, no-nonsense, and endlessly versatile. While my little truck would never have graced the pages of Truckin', it was probably premature for me to assume that Michael W. and I are so very different.
The very next day, I opened the mailbox and spotted two very different pieces of mail, also addressed to Michael W: catalogs for Tiffany & Co. and American Girl.
That's right -- more in common than I thought.
Tahari ASL silk shantung dress. Retail: $134. Sale: $35 (buy here)
J. Crew merino ruffle cardigan. Retail: $70ish. Sale: $30ish (similar)
Banana Republic silver squiggle necklace. Sale: $17
Those purple shoes are adorable! Love the rose on top of them :) The only mail we get from the previous home owner here is Victoria Secret catalogs lol, which isn't the worst, nor the best to get.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful outfit - love the print on that dress!
ReplyDeleteI love it--the outfit and the post which made me laugh! It is interesting how much we can learn about a person just by looking at what mail they receive. On a whole other note, you hair is growing out so pretty. The flip at the end is darling.
ReplyDeleteOmg, that is soooo funny!!!
ReplyDeleteHaha!! And can I say how pretty you look in purple! And that dress is so pretty, love the print.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jess! The rose was what really drew me to these shoes. And the heel height is pretty low (around 2") so they are comfy as well!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lisa! This is one of my favorite dresses! For some reason, I feel like it should be saved for special occassions because of the silk shantung fabric. But it would be a shame NOT to wear it!
ReplyDeleteSo glad this post gave you a good laugh! I really look forward to opening my mailbox, just to see if anything interesting has arrived for the previous tenant. And thank you so much for the sweet comment about my hair. I so rarely take the time to style it, but every once in a while it's nice to put forth the extra effort!

Thanks, Pamela : )
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jessica! I didn't used to wear purple very often, but it's slowly making its way into my closet. It seems to be a very versatile color that can work in almost any season.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I love LOVE those flats! So pretty!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Viktoria! These are some of my favorites but I don't wear them too often because I always seem to wear them in inclement weather. They are suede, with leather soles, so I'm afraid of ruining them!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous shoes!
ReplyDeleteHa-Ha! Maybe Micheal had a girlfriend. It would be interesting to know something about every person that ever lived in your very cool apartment. I think you have even picked out a special corner that isn't to obvious, a little out of the way, with just a little bit of beautiful wood floor at the bottom off your photo's. This is way better than the low ceiling, cut your head off, basement apartment.
ReplyDeleteThe Kate Spade's are divine Jamie. The color is spectacular. most definitely a color that suits you. Somehow Eggplant just doesn't get it for me as a description for those gorgeous heels.
I love these shoes! I got mine last year and ruined them. Learned a little lesson about Scotchgard...
